The pledge below is based on the concept of The Unity Imperative, which recognizes that in our interconnected world, our challenges and solutions must be collective. As you read, consider how this pledge could evolve with input from millions of people worldwide. Envision a future where our collective wisdom shapes the principles that guide our global community.
We acknowledge the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and commit to ensuring its safe development and deployment. We pledge to harness AI's power to solve humanity's shared problems, including our greatest challenge - ourselves. By using AI wisely and skillfully for the collective good, we aim to transcend our divisions while mitigating potential risks. This commitment to responsible AI development is integral to our vision of a united future.
The One Unity Pledge
In our deeply interconnected world, we face challenges that transcend borders, cultures, and ideologies. These challenges demand a new level of unity and cooperation. Our digital age has brought us closer than ever before, yet paradoxically, we find ourselves increasingly divided. We acknowledge that our hyperconnected world, driven by rapidly advancing technology, necessitates a unified approach to problem-solving. Because we are connected, our problems are collective, and so must be our solutions.
Unity, however, does not mean uniformity. We seek a harmony that celebrates our diversity while working towards common goals. Our strength lies in our differences, and our power in our ability to come together despite them.
Guided by the wisdom of our ancestors, the universal truths that bind all people, and the urgent needs of our time, we pledge to uphold these principles:
1. Embrace Our Shared Humanity
We affirm that despite our differences, we are all part of one human family. Our fates are intertwined, and by uplifting others, we uplift ourselves. We commit to recognizing the inherent dignity and worth of every individual, regardless of their background, beliefs, or circumstances.

2. Cultivate Empathy and Understanding

6. Unite for Collective Progress
We commit to working together to address pressing global issues such as climate change, income inequality, and pandemics. We recognize that humanity must collectively define what progress looks like and where we're heading as a species. We pledge to engage in open, inclusive dialogue to determine our shared goals and the paths to achieve them. We will prioritize collaborative solutions and measure our success by problems solved and progress made towards our collectively defined vision, not by points scored against perceived opponents.

7. Harness Technology Responsibly

We recognize that AI will reflect our collective values, and we commit to guiding its development to amplify unity and cooperation.
